CANCELED: Beaver Brouhaha!

This program is canceled due to the weather. It will be rescheduled for September 20, 2024. Check back for updates.

Beavers provide an important influence to their surrounding ecosystem. As nature's engineers, their dam building skills contribute many positive consequences to improving habitat for plants and other wildlife. However, their need for riparian habitats can also pose challenges to humans. Beavers naturally spread out in adaptation to their changing surroundings; which can pose problems in urban and rural communities. Join Larimer County Naturalist Betsy Perna to explore a local riparian habitat and discover how learning about beaver behavior can help us deal with the challenges of living with urban beavers.

Meet near the picnic tables at the River Bluffs Open Space trailhead. Car pooling is recommended as parking is limited. Bring binoculars, as desired, as well as water and snacks. Trail is paved.

Participants should bring:
Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen)
Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed-toe recommended)
Insect repellant
Clothing appropriate for the weather
Backpack (to carry it all)
