Man Arrested for Robbery and Kidnapping
On March 4, 2021, at approximately 8:39 p.m., LCSO received a report of a kidnapping in the 400 block of North Timberline Road in Fort Collins. It was reported the victim was held against her will inside a vehicle but escaped and was no longer in danger. The suspect fled in the vehicle and the caller provided a description of the vehicle.
Responding deputies located the suspect vehicle heading southbound on Timberline Road. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted and the driver was taken into custody. He was identified as Jesus Velasquez (03/28/1997) of Fort Collins.
The victim, a 44-year-old Fort Collins woman, told LCSO investigators she knew Velasquez. She said Velasquez assaulted her outside a residence in the 400 block of North Timberline Road, stole property from her, and then drove away with her inside his vehicle. Velasquez prevented the victim from getting out of the vehicle until she was able to escape when he stopped at a stop sign. The victim was not seriously injured.
Velasquez was booked into the Larimer County Jail on the following allegations:
2nd Degree Kidnapping (Felony 2)
3rd Degree Assault (Misdemeanor 1)
Robbery (Felony 4)
Domestic Violence
Warrant – Fail to Appear Criminal Mischief
Bond was not set at the time of this release. A booking photo was attached.
The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
