Jail Contraband Incident

On Thursday, 7/22/2021, at about 6:30 p.m., an inmate notified jail staff that another inmate appeared to be having a medical emergency. A deputy responded immediately and discovered the inmate was not breathing. Life-saving procedures were initiated, including the use of several doses of “Narcan”. The inmate was revived and transported to an area hospital for treatment. During the incident, deputies discovered unknown pills and a crystalline substance on the inmate’s bunk which tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine. A K9 responded to the jail for an extensive search and did not locate any additional contraband.
Allegations of First Degree Introduction of Contraband and Possession of a Controlled substance are being brought against the inmate, identified as Matthew Bird (DOB: 9/5/95), who has since been returned to the Larimer County Jail.
