Larimer County Commissioner Kristin Stephens has been selected to attend Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government for a three-week program during the summer as a member of the Gates Family Foundation’s 42nd class of Harvard Fellows.

Stephens was one of six others selected from a competitive number of applicants. Participants in the program develop new skills and strategies to tackle complex public issues to lead their organizations toward effective results. Current Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas was a fellow in the program in 2011.

During the three-week interactive program, government and public leaders work with their peers and Harvard faculty to find solutions to critical challenges they face as public leaders in rapidly changing social and political environments.

Since 1980 the foundation’s program has enabled more than 270 of Colorado’s top civic leaders to participate in the Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program. Each spring the Gates Foundation invites elected, appointed, and career officials from state and local governments across Colorado to apply to the Kennedy School Program.
