What to Expect at a Hiring Event

Whether the event is in person or virtual, here's what a typical hiring event offers:

• Meet employers directly. Talk with hiring managers and recruiters, not just HR intake forms. Learn what they're looking for and make a real impression.
• Learn about open positions. Get the details on roles, pay, schedules, and what skills matter most — straight from the source.
• Ask your questions. Every event includes time for you to ask the things that matter: culture, growth, and what a typical day looks like.
• Get noticed. Face-to-face connection, even on a screen, may set you apart from an online application.

How to Prepare

Get ready for the event!

• Update your resume before the event. Need help? Attend a Workshop.
• Research the employers who will be there. Knowing something about a company shows initiative.
• Dress the part. Even for virtual events, dress as you would for an in-person interview.
• Bring (or have ready): Copies of your resume and questions to ask employers.
• For virtual events: Test your internet connection and camera ahead of time. Find a quiet, well-lit space.
