The Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex (The Ranch), located in Loveland, Colorado opened in 2003, and is owned and operated by Larimer County.
The Ranch consists of the Blue FCU Arena, Castorena's Equine Center and Livestock Pavilions, the Peterson Toyota Center, Origin Arena, and the Thomas M. McKee 4-H Youth & Community Building. The Ranch hosts more than 2,000 events annually.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office Special Operations Platoon is entrusted with the safety and security of the patrons visiting the Larimer County Fairgrounds and Events Complex, as well as ensuring that emergency plans are in place during events such as natural disasters. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office works in conjunction with surrounding law enforcement agencies to provide the necessary staffing for larger venues such as sporting events, family shows, and concerts.
Larimer County hosts more than 100 special events annually, including everything from marathons and road races to bass fishing tournaments. The Special Operations Platoon works with Larimer County Community Development staff to review special event applications, ensuring the event is held safely and does not adversely impact public safety.
