Battery Recycling Resources for Businesses

The Larimer County Household Hazardous Waste Program (HHW) accepts four categories of household batteries for recycling. All batteries contain potentially hazardous materials and should be disposed of at the HHW program. If you're a Larimer County resident, you may drop off batteries at no charge. Accepted battery categories, types, and requirements:

Only Lead-Acid batteries are accepted. 

Lithium automotive batteries are not accepted. Check with battery or vehicle manufacturers, car dealerships, or battery retailers.

Includes: Alkaline, Magnesium, Mercury, Silver Oxide and Carbon Zinc.
Examples: Batteries used in flashlights, hearing aids, radios, toys and radios

Includes: Batteries marked “Lithium” or “CR” and coin cell batteries.
Examples: Batteries in calculators, cameras, and small electronics

Note: E-bike and E-scooter batteries are not accepted. Check with local bike shops to recycle. 

Rechargeable batteries up to 300 watt hours are accepted. 

Includes: Lithium-Ion, Nickel Cadmium, Nickel Metal Hydride, and batteries used in cell phones and cordless tools.
Examples: Batteries used in cameras, cell phones, cordless power tools, flashlights, radios and toys
