CIRT Activated for Pursuit Crash
The Eighth Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated for a law enforcement pursuit that resulted in an injury crash.
On May 23, 2025 at 10:48 p.m., Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop near Roma Valley Drive and Napa Valley Drive in south Fort Collins. The driver refused to stop and continued eluding deputies for several minutes. Deputies used a PIT (precision immobilization technique) to stop the vehicle around Boardwalk Drive and Highcastle Drive. The driver lost control and crashed into a tree.
The adult male driver, adult male passenger, and adult female passenger were all injured in the crash. They were extricated from the vehicle and transported to area hospitals. Due to the severity of their injuries, CIRT was activated.
No bystanders or deputies were hurt during this incident. The Loveland Police Department will lead the investigation with the assistance of the Fort Collins Police Services CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) team. Any additional information about this incident will be released by the Loveland Police Department.
