Larimer County property owners who receive an email or notice via US Mail from anyone identifying as Larimer County Government, asking property owners to file an appeal and pay any money for property records could be a scam and should disregard these notices.

For-profit companies solicit property owners to pay what would otherwise be available for free. People who feel they’ve been conned by any of these businesses should contact the Larimer County Sheriff's Office and file a report at 970-416-1985, or at https://www.larimer.gov/sheriff

Larimer County Assessor Bob Overbeck said property information is free and available online from the assessor. “The Larimer County Assessor’s Office never charges for a property record or to protest a property assessment,” said Larimer County Assessor Bob Overbeck. “We can give you that information for free, online, by phone, or in person at the Larimer County Assessor’s Office.”

Overbeck advises property owners to carefully examine any documents, US Mail, emails, or internet searches they receive, and contact the Larimer County Assessor’s Office with any questions at 970-498-7050, online at https://www.larimer.org/assessor, or by visiting in person at 200 W. Oak St., [Second Floor] Fort Collins, Colorado.
