This morning at approximately 3:30am, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop a suspected impaired driver in the area of Harmony and Ziegler in Fort Collins. The driver failed to stop, and began eluding deputies, driving recklessly eastbound into Weld County. A shot was fired at the pursuing deputy, striking his vehicle. No injuries were reported.

The driver eventually stopped the vehicle on Highway 392 west of I-25, and all occupants of the vehicle fled.

Utilizing drone technology, we located and safely took all 6 occupants from the vehicle into custody. During the search for the occupants, an Everbridge notification was sent to residents advising them to shelter-in-place; it has since been lifted.

“We are thankful no one was injured- deputy or members of the public alike- despite the suspects reckless actions,” said Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen. “This is an example of the professionalism and dedication of our deputies and area partners who work to keep the community safe and produced the best possible outcome.”
