CIRT Activated for Wellington Officer-Involved Shooting

The Eighth Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated for an officer-involved shooting.

Just before 2:30 p.m. on October 25, 2026, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies attempted to contact a man wanted for multiple felony warrants. The suspect was in a home in the 8200 block of 4th Street in Wellington. Deputies instructed the man to exit, but he refused to follow commands. LCSO had information that he may have been armed, and the Larimer Regional All Hazards/Crisis Response (AHCR) team responded to assist. They continued giving commands for the suspect to surrender, but he remained uncooperative.

Around 7 p.m., the man emerged from the home and ran from law enforcement. Deputies followed on foot and encountered the suspect in a nearby yard. Shots were fired and the suspect was struck. Deputies immediately rendered first aid. Medical crews were staged nearby and transported the suspect to an area hospital for care. No other injuries have been reported, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The suspect’s name and charges will be released at a later time. CIRT was activated and responded to take over the officer-involved shooting investigation. Loveland Police Department is the lead investigating agency and any further information regarding this incident will be released by that agency.
