LARIMER BROADBAND SPEED TEST
What: A speed test has been proposed for development to check and record internet speeds in Larimer County's unserved and underserved areas.
Who: Larimer County, in collaboration with its communities.
Where: Areas of Larimer County that are do not have adequate or any internet service, and where there is not a plan in place to provide adequate service in the foreseeable future.
Why: To validate existing data about projects that have been completed; to better understand how to address connectivity problems and where to prioritize efforts and know how large of a job this will be. The speed test will help Larimer County know what type of partner it can be with regard to broadband improvements.
When: This speed test is expected to be completed in the fall of 2020. The uncertainties of COVID-19 conditions may impact the anticipated time frame.
How: The goal is to run an organized speed test, with strong participation through community efforts, in order to get as much information as possible about our area's internet speed challenges and other connectivity issues, Larimer County needs community involvement and leadership in achieving a successful speed test.
