Multi-year funding update: Our work in 2026 to strengthen Larimer County's behavioral health system
"As we work to create light for others, we naturally light our own way." - Mary Anne Radmacher
Starting in 2026, we will begin expanding our investment of tax dollars in transformative system-level changes that strengthen care, connection, and compassion for each person in our community. These multi-year investments are in addition to – not a replacement for – the tax dollars that fund operations of the Acute Care facility at Longview campus and BHS’ annual Impact Fund Grant Program.
In summer and fall 2025, more than 100 behavioral health stakeholders shared ideas, experiences, and hopes for our multi-year funding initiative through six in-person and virtual engagement sessions and two online questionnaires.
Stakeholders guided us toward three areas of focus: behavioral health workforce development; co-located services and incentives for organizations to work together; and system navigation tools that help people access the services they need when and where they need them.
On Dec. 17, staff presented a summary of the engagement process and options for multi-year investments to the Board of County Commissioners. They expressed support of the work and were complimentary of the stakeholder engagement process. You may watch the meeting recording here.
Although our meeting Wednesday was productive, the commissioners requested additional time with staff to review investment options. They want to consider each option more in-depth before prioritizing our next investment.
As we move into the New Year and beyond, we will continue updating you via email and the Multi-Year Funding Framework web page.
We are deeply grateful to every person who lent their voice and helped us imagine what’s possible. This is work shaped by the community, for the community, because we believe in the power of supporting one another and in the light each of us brings to the world around us.
Wishing you warmth, connection, and bright promise this season,
