The Boxelder Creek Watershed encompasses more than 260 square miles and extends from southeast Fort Collins north into Wyoming. Large areas of unincorporated Larimer County, the entire Town of Wellington, a portion of the City of Fort Collins, and areas adjacent to the towns of Windsor and Timnath are included in this watershed. Regional stormwater master plan improvements identified in the "Boxelder Basin Stormwater Master Plan" are being addressed by the Boxelder Basin Regional Stormwater Authority, a separate governmental entity created by a cooperative agreement between Larimer County, Fort Collins and Wellington.
