Natural History Hike - Devils Backbone Open Space

Do you have an adventurous spirit? Do you enjoy long hikes in nature but yearn to learn more about
what you see? Join Naturalist Rob Pickett for a wild wander through Larimer County Open Spaces.
These 4–5-mile hikes will reveal fascinating aspects of the local flora, fauna, geology, and
landscapes, making it not just a physical journey but an educational one too! Learn insights that you
can carry forward into your future outdoor explorations and deepen your connection with nature
while expanding your understanding of the environment around you. You will hike a leisurely 4 miles
along the Wild Loop Trail including Hunter Loop (dirt surface, easy to moderate). Bringing binoculars
is optional. A spirit of adventure is a must have! Meet at main trailhead for Devils Backbone Open
Space. Carpooling is recommended as parking is limited. Program is free, but registration and
parking permit are required. Participants should bring: Sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen)
Wear comfortable hiking/walking shoes (closed-toe recommended) Water Insect repellant Lunch &
Snacks Layers to accommodate changing weather and temperatures Backpack (to carry it all)
