Larimer County Department of Natural Resources' mission is to connect people, nature, and place.  Our vision for the future rests on the belief that healthy landscapes support healthy people.  Since 1954, Larimer County has acquired and conserved a vast network of public and private lands. The community's love of the outdoors has played a vital role in this growth. Major infrastructure improvements complete at Horsetooth and Carter Lake Reservoirs

Funded by a $12 million federal grant —including $11 million from the Colorado Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) and $1 million from the Bureau of Reclamation's Federal Lands Transportation Program—coupled with a $3 million matching investment from Larimer County, this transformation upgrades the aging infrastructure of two of No. Colorado’s most popular water recreation destinations.
