North Front Range Regional Wasteshed Project Updates
The Future of Waste Management & Diversion in Larimer County
The Solid Waste Infrastructure Master Plan was adopted in 2018 with five Tier 1 Projects. Of those projects, two are currently in development. The other three projects are currently being evaluated to ensure that they are still feasible and sustainable for our community.
Transfer Station
The county is currently developing plans for a central transfer station for both residential and commercial waste. A transfer station will help maintain the current landfill site as a central hub in the county for waste disposal. It will contain waste in an indoor state-of-the-art facility that will alleviate traffic to the North Landfill.
North Landfill
The North landfill site will be located approximately 25 miles North of the current landfill at 14855 North County Road 9 near the Rawhide Energy Station and West of 1-25. The county is currently working with the state on development plans with construction anticipated to being in 2022. The landfill entrance will be on the northeast side of the property off CR 9 to alleviate traffic for neighboring tenants and communities.
