What is the Crime Victim Compensation (CVC) Board?

The CVC Board is a volunteer board comprised of community members that evaluates compensation applications from victims of crime. The District Attorney appoints the Board, and the District Attorney's Office provides administrative services to the Board.

What types of things can be covered by CVC?

(Final decisions are made by the CVC board according to statute and local policy)

  • Mental Health Counseling
  • Lost Wages
  • Funeral Expenses
  • Loss of Support and more

Who Should Apply? 

The ideal CVC Board Member is:

  • Someone who can commit to a three-year term, and preparation for/attendance at monthly Board meetings
  • Someone who can uphold the strict confidentiality requirements and be able to review content where vicarious trauma may occur
  • Someone who wants to give back and support victims of crime in our community

Anyone who is practicing criminal law, employed by the DA's Office, or employed by the State Judicial Department in the 8th Judicial District is not eligible to apply.
