Statement of Congratulations to the Honorable Susan Blanco

We would like to extend our congratulations to the Honorable Susan Blanco on her appointment to the Colorado Supreme Court. 

During her tenure as Chief Judge of the 8th Judicial District, Justice Blanco proved herself a forward-thinking and empathetic leader, working to improve our community's criminal justice system. 

Our office has valued our role as a partner with her on innovative efforts like our 8th JD Competency Docket, Veterans Treatment Court, and Warrant Clearance Events. 

“I offer my enormous congratulations to Justice Blanco and this well deserved appointment and I also extend my thanks to Governor Polis for recognizing the efforts of Larimer County in leading the way in statewide criminal justice system advancements and appointing a Northern Coloradoan to the State's highest court,” said District Attorney Gordon McLaughlin. 

“I had the honor to work closely with former Justice Melissa Hart while I was a student in her Constitutional Law class at the University of Colorado and I know she leaves an enormous hole on our highest court," said McLaughlin, "So, I am thrilled that another respected attorney and public servant with whom I have worked so closely is able to fill this critical role. I look forward to seeing Justice Blanco's continued contributions to the people of Colorado.”
