The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment (LCDHE) has launched a new podcast, Healthier Together: Larimer County’s Public Health Podcast, designed to bring local public health stories, data, and practical health guidance directly to the community.

Since its launch in January, the podcast has released nearly a dozen episodes featuring public health experts and community partners discussing topics that impact daily life in Larimer County, from radon prevention and respiratory viruses to belonging, community connection, and the programs and staff working behind the scenes to keep residents healthy.

The newest episode features Larimer County Public Health Director Tom Gonzales reflecting on lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and how those experiences continue to shape public health preparedness, communication, and community partnerships today.

“COVID-19 tested every part of our public health system,” said Gonzales. “It was a difficult time, and it taught us invaluable lessons. Those lessons continue to shape how we support our community, how we communicate with one another, and prepare to protect the health of every person in the future.”

The podcast was created to make public health information more accessible and to highlight the people and programs working every day to improve health in Larimer County.

“People connect with stories,” said Kori Solt, Communications and Technology Manager for LCDHE. “Through the podcast, we can highlight the work happening across our community and help residents better understand how public health supports the health and well-being of everyone in Larimer County.”

Episodes are designed to be approachable, informative, and easy to listen to while commuting, walking, or doing everyday activities.

“Public health touches people’s lives in ways they may not always see,” said Gonzales. “The Healthier Together podcast helps open that door by highlighting what public health really does. It’s an opportunity for our community to get to know us better.”

New episodes of Healthier Together are released every Thursday and are available on major podcast platforms. Learn more at www.larimer.gov/health/healthier-together.
