Rotary Park and Soderberg Trailhead lots to close Sept. 8 for upgrades

Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) will temporarily close Rotary Park Day Use area at Horsetooth Reservoir, located along N. County Road 23, and the Soderberg Trailhead at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space (HTMOS), located on Shoreline Drive, on September 8 to complete critical parking lot upgrades, stormwater drainage fixes, and public safety enhancements.

Rotary Park is one of the largest day-use sites on the reservoir's east side, known for its access to the Foothills Trail and bouldering. While Rotary’s parking area requires a full reconstruction, work at Soderberg Trailhead parking area will focus on essential pavement maintenance and site accessibility. 

Both closures are scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 8. Rotary’s closure duration is expected through early October while Soderberg’s closure is expected to be completed within a week. 

During the project, public access to both parking areas will be strictly prohibited. Outdoor enthusiasts wishing to access Horsetooth Reservoir or HTMOS should utilize alternative parking areas during this time, such as Sunrise or Skyline parking areas on the east side of the reservoir or the main trailhead of HTMOS on County Road 38E.
