Join us in keeping our natural spaces beautiful, sustainable, and litter free! Celebrate Earth Day with us by picking up and packing out litter.
Meet at the Department of Natural Resources Administration Offices near Carter Lake. We'll have an introduction, hand out cleanup supplies and then everyone will head out to Carter Lake, Flatiron Reservoir, Pinewood Reservoir and Ramsay-Shockey Open Space to remove unsightly litter from the land. Sign up as a group, family or individual.
Learn about how you can learn about what lives around us AND contribute to science using just your smartphone or camera and computer! Using iNaturalist, participants will learn key features of plants and animals to document to have the best chance of identifying their subject and contribute to the body of crowd-sourced scientific knowledge that is iNaturalist. All observations made in Larimer County will contribute towards the annual City Nature Challenge, an international event motivating people around the world to find and document wildlife in their own cities.

Most wildlife that share our Open Space would prefer to avoid human contact. Occasionally our paths cross. Let's get to know a bit more about our neighbor the prairie rattlesnake. What should we do or not do when you meet them on the trail? How can we best enjoy our beautiful areas while keeping safe and honoring our natural resources?
Challenge Level: This hike will be fun social hike, easy/moderate (slow pace, trails are rocky with some elevation change). There is little shade and uneven surfaces. Accessible pit toilets and potable water are available at the trailhead.
