Enjoy an evening with members of the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society (NCAS) for an up-close look at the night sky over the Rockies. Telescopes will be available for viewing stars, galaxies, planets and more! Bring the whole group to connect with the wonders of the night sky.

This open house-style program is located at Hermit Park Open Space. Telescopes will be set up in field adjacent to the picnic pavilion near Bobcat Campground. Program is free but a parking permit is required. Registration is encouraged.

Bring your 2-5 year old for a morning filled with nature exploration, stories, and connection with our amazing natural world. This month, we'll learn about some of our coolest critters: pollinators!

A parent or guardian must accompany the child for this program. Registration is required but program is free.

Please call Natural Resources main desk at (970) 619-4564 or 4570 the night before or day of program to cancel or inquire about availability.

Let's get to know a bit more about our neighbors the prairie rattlesnake. Did you know they share almost all of our foothill properties with us? We will share truths, myths, and ways to enjoy your outings more while staying safe!

Participants will meet at the pavilion and then hike the Morrison Loop Trail (.5 miles). Most of the trail is unshaded.
This hike will be easy/moderate (slow pace, trails are rocky with some elevation change). Pit toilets and potable water are available at the trailhead. Challenges: Little shade, rocky trails.

Important Campground Notices for 2025

  • Eagle Campground: Starting June 13, sites will be reservable on Friday and Saturday nights only, up to 30 days in advance. Reserve online or by calling 1-800-397-7795.
    • Important Advisory: If you have a larger camping unit (RV or trailer 26 or more feet in length), navigating the construction will be challenging. We recommend South Shore campground as an alternative to better accommodate your needs during construction.
