A suspect in a fatal animal cruelty case has been arrested in Arkansas and extradited to Larimer County.
On August 29, 2022, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a man had attacked two dogs in a Wellington yard. One of the dogs died at the scene and the other was seriously injured. A community tip led investigators to identify the suspect as David Thompson (DOB 09/03/1977) of Scotland, Arkansas. Thompson had no prior connection to the home, residents, or animals.

Two people were arrested after eluding law enforcement and crashing a stolen vehicle early Thursday morning.
On November 14, 2024 around 4:20 a.m., a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy located a stolen vehicle at a gas station in Berthoud. The silver 2015 Subaru Forrester had been stolen in Weld County during an armed carjacking. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle at Wagon Bend Road and Buckskin Road. The driver refused to stop, eluded deputies, and drove north on Berthoud Parkway at speeds up to 100 mph.
A California man was sentenced after stealing $30,000 from a local couple and nearly scamming them out of $70,000 in gold.
A local man has been arrested after nearly running over a deputy, driving into a patrol car, and barricading inside of a Berthoud barn.
Just after 3:00 a.m. on October 23, 2024, a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting a traffic stop near Eisenhower Boulevard and Sculptor Drive in Loveland. A white 2018 Buick Encore sped past and nearly struck the deputy, who was standing outside the stopped vehicle. A Loveland Police officer tried to stop the Buick, but it continued driving recklessly and eluded officers.
A Commerce City man arrested during a child predator operation has been sentenced to probation and a six-year deferred sentence.
Daniel Goodfield was arrested in March 2024 during an undercover operation conducted by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. Goodfield, 40, engaged in conversations online to solicit sex for money. After negotiating to have sex with two girls, including a 14-year-old, Goodfield responded to a hotel in Larimer County where undercover investigators were waiting. A local man arrested during a child predator operation has been sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Luis Son Gonon was arrested in late June of 2023 during an undercover operation conducted by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and Johnstown Police Department. Son Gonon, who was 27, reached out to investigators to solicit sex, believing he was contacting a 14-year-old girl. After interacting online, Son Gonon responded to a hotel in Larimer County where he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Larimer County Jail and faced the following charges:
The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a serious injury crash and needs the community's help identifying one of the involved parties.
Around 1:45 p.m. on October 2, 2024, a pickup truck and motorcycle were involved in a crash on Weld County Road 44 just east of Interstate 25 in Berthoud. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The truck left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
