The Larimer County Department of Health and Environment's Office of Strategic Planning, Health Equity, and Partnerships connects with community partners to provide public health perspective and expertise. We work with our community to implement policies and programs that promote positive health outcomes, address emerging issues or gaps in services, and provide resources.
Areas of expertise include:
Access to comprehensive, quality healthcare services is important for promoting and maintaining health, preventing and managing disease, reducing unnecessary disability and premature death, and achieving health equity for everyone in the community.
Housing is more than adequate shelter from the elements. Housing includes multiple characteristics such as the stability and security of the housing, the quality and safety of the housing, the neighborhood quality and associated social networks, and the affordability of the housing.
Humans are social creatures and social relationships and an individual’s place in a broader social environment can have profound effects on health. Social connections can support a longer lifespan, reduce anxiety and depression, and help support a functioning immune system.
Income is a key factor in overall health and health outcomes. Income has been shown to be connected to social status, quality of life, physical and mental health outcomes, and access to care. Individuals with higher incomes report greater satisfaction with health care and less concern about being able to afford necessary care.
