Addressing Climate-Driven Challenges
Residents of Larimer County are defined by a deep connection to the land and a strong sense of pride. Acting for a sustainable future is about protecting what we've built as we adapt to the future and confront climate-driven challenges. That same spirit of preservation guided the launch of our Climate Smart Future Ready program.
We are working together to tackle poor air quality, intensifying weather patterns, and the increasing frequency of natural disasters. Our strategy focuses on three key areas:
- Mitigation: Reducing our impact to prevent further risks.
- Adaptation: Adjusting our systems and infrastructure to meet current realities.
- Protection: Safeguarding our community and the natural environment.
Our 5-Year Commitment
Collaborating with 50 entities, Larimer County has formulated action plans with locally informed solutions, and established goals to collectively steer us toward fulfilling our community's needs over the next 5 years (into 2029). By building on what works and preparing for what’s ahead, we ensure that future generations inherit a county that is healthy, connected, and thriving.
