Mail Ballots Sent Out: October 2 is the first day ballots may be mailed out to voters.
Ballot Boxes Open: You can return your ballot at any one of our 24 ballot boxes all across Larimer County. Ballot boxes are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day. For a list of ballot box locations, visit our Where to Vote page.

Last Day to Return by Mail: In order to ensure your ballot arrives on time, Monday, October 26 is the last day our Office recommends returning your ballot by mail. After October 26, we recommend dropping your ballot off at a ballot box or visiting a vote center.
Last Day to Request a Mail Ballot: Monday, October 26 is also the last day we can send you a ballot in the mail (if you need a replacement ballot, just registered to vote, or updated the address in your voter record). After this date, you'll need to a visit a vote center to receive your ballot.

Election Day: All ballots must be received by our Office by 7:00 pm on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Please note: postmarks do not count. Unofficial results will be posted after 7:00 pm and are subject to change. To find results, visit our Results page.

Final Results: Final results for the 2026 General Election will be posted no later than Wednesday, November 25.

How to Vote

Most Ballots Will Be Sent in Early October

In Colorado, every voter receives a mail ballot, which is why it's so important to make sure your address is correct in your voter record. Once you receive your ballot, you can decide whether you want to return it by mail, drop it off at a ballot box, or vote in-person depending on what works best for you. Ballots for the 2026 General Election will be mailed out in early October. If you don't receive your ballot by Monday, October 12, contact our Office by phone or email at (970) 498-7820 or elections@larimer.gov so we can issue you a new ballot.

Pick Up Your Ballot Starting Sep 21

If you'd like to receive your mail ballot ahead of time, you can pick up your ballot at our Office from Monday, September 21 through Friday, October 16, 2026. Our Office is located on the 5th floor of the Larimer County Administrative Services Building at 200 W Oak St, Suite 5100, Fort Collins, CO 80521 and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (excluding holidays).

What's in Your Ballot

Your mail ballot will include:

  1. Your official ballot
  2. Instructions for filling out, returning, and tracking your ballot
  3. An official return envelope

A small number of voters may receive an insert asking them to provide their signature or ID. Review your materials and follow all instructions.

Overseas and Military Voters (UOCAVA)

Ballots are sent to overseas and military voters (UOCAVA) beginning by September 18. UOCAVA voters may choose to receive their ballot electronically or by mail. For more information, visit our UOCAVA page.

Sample ballots for the 2026 General Election will become available about 45 days before Election Day.

Please note: personalized sample ballots generally become available about 30 days before Election Day.

If you'd like to see what's on your individual ballot (rather than all ballots), you can view your personalized sample ballot with the Colorado Secretary of State's Office. To view your sample ballot:

  1. Log in to the system with your full name, zip code, and birthday
  2. Select 'Ballot Information' in the list of tabs (the second tab under your name near the top of the screen).
  3. Select 'View My Sample Ballot' above the section for 'Ballot Status'

About Ballot Content

Your party affiliation and residential address determine what you are eligible to vote for. As such, your ballot may look different from friends', neighbors', family members', or roommates'. If you have any questions, contact our Office at (970) 498-7820 or elections@larimer.gov.

Research Your Ballot

Additional resources about ballot measures for General and Coordinated elections are usually available about one month before Election Day. Our Office does not provide resources about candidates in Primary elections.

If you're looking for the Notice of Election or other public notices for the current election, you can find them below.

Fill Out Your Ballot

To vote for a named candidate, or for or against a ballot measure, completely fill in the oval to the right of your choice. If you choose not to vote for a candidate or a ballot measure, the rest of the votes on your ballot will still be counted.

  • Use Blue or Black Ink: Make sure to use blue or black ink when you are filling out your ballot. If you make a mistake, contact our Office at (970) 498-7820 or elections@larimer.gov.
  • Remove the Stub: If you're voting your mail ballot, make sure to remove the stub at the top of the ballot when you're finished voting. You don't need to save the stub. More instructions about tracking your ballot are provided in a separate tab.

Place Your Ballot in the Return Envelope

Refold your ballot exactly as you received it and place it in the official return envelope. Don't place any other materials in the official return envelope unless you've received instructions to do so.

Sign the Return Envelope

Once you've inserted your ballot into the official return envelope, seal the envelope and sign and date the back of the envelope. If you are unable to sign your own ballot envelope, make an 'X' mark and have a witness print their name in the section below. For more information about signatures, visit our Signatures page.

Returning Your Ballot

In order for your ballot to count, all ballots must be received by 7:00 pm on Election Day. Postmarks do not count. You can return your ballot by mailing it to us or dropping it off at any ballot box or vote center.

To return your ballot by mail, simply take your official return envelope to the post office or place it into an outgoing mailbox with adequate postage. In order to ensure your ballot arrives in time, we recommend mailing your ballot by Monday, October 26, 2026. After that, we recommend dropping your ballot off at a ballot box or returning it to a vote center.

Sign up for BallotTrax

If you'd like to check the status of your ballot, you can sign up for BallotTrax, a free service that provides notifications by text, phone, or email when your ballot is sent, received, and counted. To sign up for notifications:

  1. Log in to BallotTrax by entering your first name, last name, date of birth, and residential zip code.
  2. Select your preferences for receiving notifications.
    • Select methods of notification (text, phone call, or email). 
    • Set your language preference.
    • Set your notification hours.

If you prefer not to receive notifications, you can check your ballot status with the Colorado Secretary of State's Office. To check your ballot status:

  • Log in with first name, zip code, and birthday.

Election Records

After election results have been certified, our Office publishes two documents—the Statement of Votes Cast and the Cast Vote Record—that provide detailed records of the votes. The Statement of Votes Cast contains detailed records of the votes cast for each race by precinct. To view the Statement of Votes Cast, you can download it as a pdf or a spreadsheet.

Public Notices

As the Election approaches, our Office posts public notices related to voting locations, tax measures, our Logic and Accuracy Test, and more. Any public notices related to the current or upcoming election are available below.

Notice of Election

2026 General Election Notice

Following Colorado Revised Statute 1-5-205, our Office is required to post a notice of election no later than 20 days before the election. The notice identifies what kind of election is taking place, important dates for receiving and returning your ballot, and detailed information about ballot boxes and vote centers. The Notice of Election for the 2026 General Election will be posted soon. If you have any questions, you can call our Office at (970) 498-7820 or send us an email at elections@larimer.gov. 

Logic and Accuracy Test

Logic and Accuracy Test (LAT) 

Before every election, Larimer County Elections conducts a Logic and Accuracy Test of its voting equipment. The test is open to representatives from political parties, members of the press, and the general public. The Logic and Accuracy Test is conducted no later than 21 days before the Election, with the notice posted at least one week in advance. Larimer County Ballot Issue 1A

For the 2026 General Election, the Board of Larimer County Commissioners has referred an issue to the ballot proposing a 0.3% county-wide sales and use tax to support community resilience and community needs.
