Our Neighbors the Prairie Rattlesnakes
Most wildlife that share our Open Space would prefer to avoid human contact. Occasionally our paths cross. Let's get to know a bit more about our neighbor the prairie rattlesnake. What should we do or not do when you meet them on the trail? How can we best enjoy our beautiful areas while keeping safe and honoring our natural resources?
Challenge Level: This hike will be fun social hike, easy/moderate (slow pace, trails are rocky with some elevation change). There is little shade and uneven surfaces. Accessible pit toilets and potable water are available at the trailhead.
When you arrive: Participants will meet at the pavilion and then hike the Morrison Loop Trail (.5 miles). Pavilion is located right off parking area near horse trailer parking.
Parking: Program is free, but registration is required. Devil's Backbone Open Space charges a $10 day use fee. Carpooling is recommend as the parking lot fills quickly on the weekends. You can check out a Discover Pack from a local library or one of our offices for a free day use pass. https://www.larimer.gov/naturalresources/discover-pack
