What is a Closed POD?
A Closed Point of Dispensing (POD) is a company site that provides medication and other supplies directly to a business’s employees and their families during a public health emergency.
Why are they important?
Closed PODs:
- Reduce the burden on Open PODs (open to the public) and helps shorten lines across the community
- Allow the health department to focus on reaching the general public more rapidly
- Provide fast and efficient access to life-saving medical interventions for your employees and their families
- Allow your business to operate with minor disruptions during an emergency
Open POD versus Closed POD
Open PODS
- Open to the public
- Locations run by trained Health Department Staff
- Held at a variety of locations and can aid large numbers of people
- Planned for supporting communities across Larimer County - and statewide.
Closed PODS
- NOT open to the public
- Locations are run by private organizaitons to dispense medicines to employees and their families
- Helps lower the pressure and volume of community members on Open PODs
