Students and staff from the Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology department of Colorado State University are conducting a research study and are seeking participants for several focus groups.
Overview:
The research study investigates community risk perception of West Nile virus in northern Larimer County, Colorado. The principal Investigator is Dr. Nicole Kelp and Cheyenne Schad is the Co-Principal Investigator.
Discussion Format & Length:
The investigators would like to invite you to participate in a small focus group, to discuss your risk perceptions of West Nile virus in your community. The discussions will be approximately 1-hour in length. Participation in this research is voluntary. If you decide to participate in the study, you may withdraw your consent and stop participation at any time without penalty.
They are conducting both in-person and online (via Zoom) focus groups. The discussion will be completely confidential and focus on topics such as perceived risk of West Nile virus and the effectiveness of health communications from the local health departments. While there are no direct benefits to you, they hope to gain more information about how to improve public knowledge of West Nile virus.
Participants will be compensated for their time and will receive a $50 gift card upon completion of the focus group.
While there might be mild stress from talking about West Nile virus in the community, there are no known risks for participating in the focus groups.
