An Area Agency on Aging (often called AAA or "Triple-A") is part of a nationwide network. The U.S. government has a law called the Older Americans Act. This law requires every part of the country to have a AAA to make sure older adults get the support they need.
There are 16 of these agencies in Colorado, and the Larimer County Office on Aging is one of them. They get federal and state money to pay for local programs like free rides, community meals, legal help, and support for people taking care of aging family members.
The State Unit on Aging
The State Unit on Aging oversees programs funded by the federal Older Americans Act and State Funding for Senior Services. Learn more about the role of the State Unit on Aging, including policies and procedures, on their website.
Every four years, every Area Agency on Aging (AAA) in Colorado is required to develop and submit a plan to the State Unit on Aging. This plan is based on the needs of people 60 and over in their communities. See the Larimer County Office on Aging Four Year Plan 2024-2027.
Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults
To guide each 4-year plan, the Larimer County Office on Aging conducts the Larimer County Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults. View the CASOA report.
