What does the federal government shutdown mean for you and your benefits?

The federal government shutdown began on October 1, 2025. We know this might make you worry about your benefits. Right now, this shutdown will not change the benefits you get from Larimer County Department of Human Services. Benefits that will continue include food assistance or SNAP, TANF or Colorado Works, Social Security, Medicaid, CHIP+, Child Support, and benefits from the Office on Aging. We are watching the situation closely and will update you when we know more. If you have questions about your benefits, please call our general phone number at 970-498-6300.
