Nominations for 2026 Older Americans Month Awards now open!

Nominations for this year's Older American Month Awards are now open! The Larimer County Office on Aging honors an Outstanding Senior Volunteer and an Outstanding Family Caregiver at a ceremony each May. The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, March 20. 

The purpose of the Office on Aging Advisory Council shall be to advise the Larimer County Office on Aging (LCOA) of the Department of Human Services in matters of planning for older persons and shall carry out the objectives and intent of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended.

The council function shall include:

  • Supporting the Office on Aging in developing and administering the area plan
  • Representing the interests of older individuals and family caregivers
  • Reviewing and commenting on community policies, programs, and actions which affect older individuals and family caregivers
  • Becoming knowledgeable of the resources available within Larimer County to meet the needs of older adults.
  • Gather information and provide input on unmet needs of seniors in Larimer County with special attention to the needs of those who are socially and/or economically disadvantaged.
  • Participate with LCOA staff in reviewing funding applications from service providers and perform periodic assessments of existing services funded by LCOA.

Number of Members: 12-18

Term Length: 3 years

Qualifications: A council member shall contribute unique knowledge, perspective, and experience that represent older adults, family caregivers, healthcare provider organizations, service providers, and individuals from the private, voluntary, or corporate sector. Passion and ability to participate in discussion, provide input, and implement special projects related to LCOA goals, and willing to act as an advocate for the LCOA.  Must live in Larimer County and be able to attend council and committee meetings during regular business hours.

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per month

Meetings: Held on the second Thursday of each month from 1:30-3:30 pm. The date, time, and location of meetings are subject to change. Committee meetings are on the first Friday of each month.
