The parking lot at Ramsay-Shockey Open Space will be closed for paving, Wednesday April 24 through Friday, April 26.
The Pinewood Reservoir-Ramsey Shockey Open Space parking lot will be closed for paving Tuesday, April 23 to Friday afternoon, April 26. It will re-open the evening of Friday, April 26.
Horsetooth Mountain Open Space’s main trailhead, 6550 W. County Rd., 38E, will be closed to public access Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19 for asphalt paving.
The paving project is an extension of a larger improvement plan for this trailhead area that Larimer County Department of Natural Resources completed earlier this year, including improvements to parking flow, upgrades to the kiosk area and installation of an additional vault toilet.
The Horsetooth Area Visitor Center parking lot will be closed Monday, June 16 for paving maintenance. The Visitor Center will remain open. Please follow posted signage for parking. We appreciate your cooperation!

Boat owners hoping to rent a slip at Larimer County reservoirs can now enter a lottery system that ensures an open process for rental selection. The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) launches a randomized lottery on Friday, March 29 for available slips at Inlet Bay Marina at Horsetooth Reservoir and Carter Lake Marina at Carter Lake Reservoir.
To be entered in the 2024 marina slip lottery, boaters can submit their information from Friday, March 29 to Friday, April 19 at 11:59 p.m.
Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) is pleased to report significant progress in site restoration and planning efforts at its most recently acquired open space, formerly known as Heaven's Door Ranch, located near the Big Thompson Canyon.
Now conserved, this 1,547-acre property will rank as one of the crown jewels of northern
Colorado’s open space system, connecting numerous already conserved lands in the area. Its acquisition in 2022 was a cornerstone of Larimer County’s conservation strategy in a high-priority area.
DENVER – Today, the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) board awarded a $1,500,000 grant to Larimer County to permanently protect the 1,547-acre Heaven’s Door Ranch near Loveland.
UPDATE: VISITOR CENTERS WILL NOW OPEN AT NOON ON THURSDAY, MARCH 14.
Due to winter storm weather, the Larimer County Natural Resources administrative office and information center at Carter Lake and the Horsetooth Area Information Center are closed Thursday, March 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
