LOVELAND – Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) has completed its first-ever marina slip and mooring lottery at Carter Lake and Inlet Bay Marina at Horsetooth Reservoir.
The county launched the randomized lottery in March to ensure an open process for rental selection of available boat slips at the popular reservoirs.
A parent or guardian must accompany the child for this program. Registration is required but program is free. Program runs at Lions Open Space on the third Thursday of the month and the following Saturday at River Bluffs Open Space.
Survey reveals residents' support for public lands.

The boat ramps at Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir are closed for the season.
The parking lot at Ramsay-Shockey Open Space will be closed for paving, Wednesday April 24 through Friday, April 26.
The Pinewood Reservoir-Ramsey Shockey Open Space parking lot will be closed for paving Tuesday, April 23 to Friday afternoon, April 26. It will re-open the evening of Friday, April 26.
Horsetooth Mountain Open Space’s main trailhead, 6550 W. County Rd., 38E, will be closed to public access Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19 for asphalt paving.
The paving project is an extension of a larger improvement plan for this trailhead area that Larimer County Department of Natural Resources completed earlier this year, including improvements to parking flow, upgrades to the kiosk area and installation of an additional vault toilet.
The Horsetooth Area Visitor Center parking lot will be closed Monday, June 16 for paving maintenance. The Visitor Center will remain open. Please follow posted signage for parking. We appreciate your cooperation!

Boat owners hoping to rent a slip at Larimer County reservoirs can now enter a lottery system that ensures an open process for rental selection. The Larimer County Department of Natural Resources (LCDNR) launches a randomized lottery for available slips at Inlet Bay Marina at Horsetooth Reservoir and Carter Lake Marina at Carter Lake Reservoir.
To be entered in the 2026 marina slip lottery, boaters can submit their information from Monday, January 5 through Friday, March 6.
