When a person is booked into the Larimer County Jail, information about their arrest appears on our LCSO website. We've recently gotten reports from family members who fell victim to scammers who used this public information to their advantage.
Here's how the scheme works:

A Commerce City man has been arrested for trying to buy sexual services from a child.
Last week, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office investigators conducted an operation targeting child predators. Investigators posed as underage sex workers in online forums and were contacted by dozens of men soliciting services. One man arrived at an agreed upon location, where he was met by law enforcement.

A suspect has been arrested for selling Fentanyl that killed a Lyons man.
In early October 2023, a woman called 911 after finding a male family member unresponsive at their home in Lyons. Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators, Thompson Valley EMS, and Lyons Fire Department responded. They located the man, who was deceased, and evidence of illegal narcotic use at the scene. The Larimer County Coroner ruled his death accidental as a result of Fentanyl toxicity.
Multiple people have been arrested for supplying Fentanyl that killed a woman in 2023.
On the morning of July 27, 2023, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a death in the 5400 block of North Highway 1 (north of Fort Collins). A man woke up and found his adult female partner deceased. Investigators found evidence of narcotics use at the scene, and a toxicology report later identified multiple drugs in the woman’s system, including methamphetamine and Fentanyl.
In the summer of 2023, the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force (NCDTF) began investigating an organized drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine in northern Colorado and throughout the state.
After months of intensive casework, NCDTF detectives identified a large regional network of suspects affiliated with international drug cartel operations. After filing charges, detectives conducted search warrants at 11 different homes and seized evidence associated with the case, including:
A Larimer County man has been arrested for possession of child sexual abuse materials.
In May 2023, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a cybercrime tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). NCMEC shared information about images showing sexual abuse of children; possession of these images was associated with an unknown suspect in unincorporated Larimer County.
On Friday, February 23, 2024, at approximately 6am, Dispatch received a report that a male had assaulted a family member, who sustained moderate injuries. While deputies were responding to the residence, located in the 800-block of Longview Drive in Berthoud, they learned the suspect had armed himself with a gun. Once deputies arrived on scene, everyone except the suspect safely exited the residence.
