A man has been arrested for breaking into a home, stealing a gun, and climbing on a roof in North Fort Collins.
On April 9, 2025 around 8:15 a.m., the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls about an armed man in the 1700 block of North Whitcomb Street (Fort Collins/unincorporated Larimer County). The callers reported that the man had a long gun and was on the roof of a house.
The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated to investigate an incident involving an inmate in the Larimer County Jail.
On March 24, 2025 around 6:15 p.m., a Larimer County Jail deputy was conducting routine inmate status checks and discovered an unresponsive man in his cell. Additional deputies and jail medical staff responded and immediately provided first aid. He was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The 44-year-old man was the only inmate in the cell, which was locked.
A condition update is available regarding the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was shot by a suspect on Monday.
In CIRT situations, the involved agency maintains responsibility for releasing updates about involved personnel. Loveland Police Department is leading the CIRT investigation and will provide any updates regarding the criminal case.

On March 10, 2025 around 2 p.m., two Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop an off-road motorcycle for traffic violations in Fort Collins. The adult male rider refused to stop and drove onto the bike path in Edora Park. The deputies, who were on agency motorcycles, followed him into the park.
The suspect got off the motorcycle and exchanged gunfire with the deputies.
