Loveland Fire Rescue Authority has adopted a new Fire Code including rules for construction in their designated Wildfire Hazard Area. All new homes, additions of over 200 sq. ft., reroofing of 100 sq. ft. or more, decks and fences require an additional permit and inspection approvals through Loveland Fire. Effective immediately, review times for new planning applications will be extended to reflect more accurate timelines due to staffing challenges.
- Referral times for location and extent reviews, 1041 permits, telecommunication permits, preliminary plats, appeals, and any other case types with code or statutory time requirements will not change.
- Referral times for variances, minor modifications, amended plats, boundary line adjustments, lot consolidations, and add-on agreements are 30 days.
- Referral times for all other remaining case types are 60 days.
In addition to the referral time frames noted above, the planning project manager will continue to have 7 additional days to process the referral comments and create a comment letter.

Effective August 1, 2023, Larimer County will begin enforcing the 2023 National Electrical Code (based on the State of Colorado adoption). All permits issued as of August 1, 2023, will need to comply with the 2023 NEC.

2023 NEC Significant Changes
A proposed legislative zoning amendment intended to change the existing Open (0) and Rural Residential (RR-2) zone districts for multiple publicly owned properties (State and Federal) to the Natural Resources (NR) zone district. The properties being considered for the change are currently being used as forest lands, land conservation or open space recreation.
If approved the proposed rezoning will result in a zoning designation that is aligned with the goals of the land use framework objectives within the Larimer County Comprehensive Plan.
