Can I transfer credit from my previous vehicle toward my new vehicle?
Remaining credit from a previous vehicle that was sold, traded in, or totaled may be transferred to another vehicle registration. The previous vehicle’s registration cannot be expired at the time of credit transfer and both vehicles must share a common owner. Please have the license plate number of the previous vehicle available when registering your new vehicle.

How much will my vehicle registration cost?
Registration cost varies depending on the year of the vehicle, the empty weight and the original Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Additionally, the date of registration and license plate type may impact fees. To complete an estimate of registration fees, visit the State of Colorado’s Fee Estimator. Do I need an emissions test?
Emissions test requirements vary by the registered address, the year of the vehicle, and when the last emissions test was performed. Visit the Emissions Requirements page for more information, including a map of the testing area.

I opted in for the Keep Colorado Wild state parks pass. Where is it located?
The Keep Colorado Wild state parks pass is printed with the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) logo on your registration receipt. For more information on the pass, visit the CPW Keep Colorado Wild website.

Replacing your year tab can be completed online, by phone, in person, or at a self-service kiosk.

What do I do if I have lost my registration?
A copy of your current registration can be completed online, by calling 970-498-7878, in person, or at a self-service kiosk.

How do I change my address on my vehicle registration?
You can change your legal (physical) and mailing address online, by phone, in person, or by mail. If completing by mail, the LCVL23 Address Change Form is required. Please note: a change of address must be completed for each vehicle.

What part of my registration is tax deductible?
The specific ownership tax and any prior specific ownership tax. These figures are shown on your vehicle registration. The license fee portion of the renewal is not deductible. Transaction receipts are available online if you have a mydmv online portal account.

Can I register to vote when I register my vehicle?
Yes, each office has voter registration forms. In the Fort Collins location, the forms are located in the Elections office on the fifth floor. With a valid Social Security Number, Colorado Driver’s License, or Colorado ID card, you may register online.
