Letter of Authorization Requirements

The Larimer County Clerk & Recorder Vehicle Licensing Department requires a Letter of Authorization for each transaction conducted on behalf of a business. 

Letter must include the following:  

  • Company letterhead
  • Date (within last 30 days)
  • Dealer Number or Lienholder ID number, if applicable
  • State what the agent is authorized to do on behalf of the company
  • Name of the authorized agent
    • Multiple agents may be listed on the letter 
  • Signature of  company representative
    • Must be signed by someone other than the person authorized  
  • Original, faxed, or photocopy is acceptable

The letter will not be returned to the agent and cannot be used for subsequent transactions. 

Note: A business owner with sole ownership may complete a DR 2444 Statement of Fact form in lieu of providing a letter of authorization and is required for each transaction.
