In late May, LCSO investigators conducted an undercover operation. Using online forums, men solicited sexual services from investigators posing as underage sex workers. Several hundred people responded to the postings and expressed interest in buying sexual services from children. Three men ultimately arrived at the agreed upon location, where they were met by law enforcement. They were arrested on the following charges:

A suspect has been arrested for distributing thousands of illicit Fentanyl pills and methamphetamine in Northern Colorado. 

In March 2024, detectives from the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force (NCDTF) and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) began communicating with a suspect about the distribution of controlled substances. The suspect, identified as German Baez (DOB 01/03/98) of Eaton, was distributing illegal narcotics in the region. Detectives learned that Baez had connections to the Sinaloa drug cartel.

A Denver man has been charged for trying to run over a deputy, then causing a crash that injured vehicle passengers and killed a dog.

Just after midnight on May 18, 2024, a Larimer County Sheriff’s Office deputy was near Interstate 25 and Highway 56 in Johnstown and saw a vehicle with no license plates. He initiated a traffic stop, but the driver of the gray sedan eluded law enforcement, driving east on Highway 56 at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

A woman has died after a rafting accident on the Poudre River.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at approximately 12:55 pm, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received several reports of an empty commercial river raft  in the Poudre River. Callers reported that the raft was near the Greyrock Trailhead on Highway 14. Nearby rafters asked passersby to call 911.

A Fort Collins man has been arrested for possession of thousands of child sexual abuse images and videos. 

In October 2023, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a cybercrime tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). NCMEC shared information about images showing sexual abuse of young children; possession of these images was associated with an unknown suspect in unincorporated Larimer County.

The on-call firefighter program with the Larimer County Sheriff's Office is a temporary, part-time, on-call position under the direct supervision of the Emergency Services Unit. LCSO Wildland Firefighters are known throughout the United States for top-level training and dedication to safety on the fireline.

Our on-call firefighters assist our Phantom Canyon Crew with wildland fire suppression, management, and control as firefighters on an engine or hand crew. Other duties may involve fire prevention, patrol, detection, or prescribed burning.
