Each employee approved for remote work will be required to complete a specific set of remote work training within the first quarter of being approved for remote work.

The County provides all employees with standard meeting and communication tools, as well as tools for e-signature:

  • Gmail
  • Zoom
  • Mobile Phone Document Scanning Apps (Adobe Scan, Microsoft Office Lens, ScanPro)
  • DocuSign

Employees may also utilize other video conferencing tools based on the vendors the employee works with such as WebEx, GoToMeeting, and Microsoft Teams, while it is appropriate to use these tools, support is not provided for these tools.

Consistent with the County’s expectations of information security for employees working at the office, employees working remotely will be expected to ensure the protection of proprietary County and customer information accessible from their home office. Steps include the use of locked file cabinets and desks, regular password maintenance, and any other measures appropriate for the job and the environment.

The County has some helpful resources and training for supervisors managing remote employees.  For training resources, see the resources section of this program. The Learning Management system has videos on this topic from LinkedIn Learning.

The County wants to ensure our employees are safe, including when employees are working remotely.  Working remotely is similar to working in the office, it’s critical that you have a workstation that is ergonomically correct.  Our goal is to offer resources, tools, and support to make sure each employee is safe while working remotely.

Employees required to work remotely (essential remote work), are eligible to receive an annual stipend to assist in ensuring employees are appropriately prepared to work effectively and efficiently remotely.  Not all employees that are working remotely will receive a remote work stipend.  Employees that receive the remote work stipend are employees that are required to work remotely and do not have for all or a portion of their scheduled hours a County provided physical location.

As outlined in Section XIV of the Conditions of Employment Policy, remote work is intended to occur within the State of Colorado. Remote work arrangements outside Colorado will only be considered under exceptional circumstances where a critical business need is demonstrated. Any such request must be reviewed and approved in writing by the Human Resources Director prior to the employee beginning any out-of-state work.
