The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is seeking talented undergraduate students to join our team as Volunteer Interns. 

Headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, the Sheriff's Office is an agency of over 400 family-oriented employees, dealing with a range of responsibilities including support services, patrol, jail, wildland fire, search and rescue, and investigation duties.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that occurred near Owl Canyon Road and Highway 287. This was initially reported as a possible road rage incident; however, additional evidence has led investigators to believe this may have been a planned robbery attempt.

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and federal authorities are investigating a fatal glider crash.

On August 31, 2023 around 1:45 p.m., LCSO deputies responded to a report that an aircraft had crashed on private property in the Rawhide Flats area. Wellington Fire Protection District also responded to assist. First responders located a fixed wing, single-seat glider with a sole adult occupant, who was deceased.

An unlicensed acupuncture practitioner has been arrested for sexual assault.

In early 2023, an adult female victim contacted the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office to report being assaulted during treatment performed by Rodney Pereira (DOB 06/07/55). The victim began receiving acupuncture services at Pereira’s Loveland home office in mid-2022. In late 2022, he provided massage therapy during a session, during which the victim said he intentionally touched her intimate parts.

A Larimer County Jail deputy was assaulted after attempting to stop an inmate from leaving his authorized area.

In early August, inmate Braeden Coats (DOB 09/14/04) tried to leave his housing area and was stopped by a jail deputy. Coats refused to cooperate, pulled away, and hit the deputy in the face twice. The deputy’s partner intervened, and other responding deputies helped restrain the inmate. The deputy was checked by jail medical staff and was not seriously injured.

A teacher accused of sexual assault faces multiple charges after investigators received additional tips from the community.

Robert Denise (DOB 04/29/63) was arrested in April 2023 following an investigation into an assault against a former student. Denise was initially charged with two counts of Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust (F3) and issued a $1,000 cash bond by Larimer County Magistrate Schwartz.

Three people were arrested after investigators located illicit drugs, paraphernalia, and stolen property during a recent residential search warrant.  

In late July, the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force served the warrant at a home in the 3000-block of Indigo Circle North (Fort Collins) with the assistance of Fort Collins Police Services. The following items were recovered:

Earlier today, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Impact Unit Investigators responded to a self-storage complex in the area of the Johnstown exit on I-25 attempting to locate a wanted fugitive with multiple no bond warrants. He was located at the unit and barricaded inside the unit as Investigators approached. In collaboration with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and the Johnstown Police Department, it was agreed that the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office would handle this incident.

This morning, Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies at the Justice Center in Fort Collins (201 W. Laporte) were doing routine security checks and noticed a suspicious package outside of the building. Our Deputies, LCSO Dispatchers and Fort Collins Police Services Dispatchers immediately followed procedure securing the area and notifying the appropriate parties. The Justice Center and surrounding businesses were evacuated, and other local businesses were told to shelter in place.
